Personal Publishing Program In keeping with its purpose to encourage and develop literary talent, CAL offers a Personal Publishing Program (PPP) where the author becomes his/her own publisher. This program is designed to make authors of writers. No acceptance is needed. (We don't even read the manuscripts.) All profits accrue to the author. CAL will serve as your printer, your typesetter, your cover artist, your editor, your fulfillment office, your bookkeeper, your webmaster, anything you wish. All on a fee-for-services basis. We can provide things like bar codes, copyright services, and more. Most writers hire us as printers and/or typesetters. A smaller number buy other services of creation or promotion. We've printed more than 2,000 (and counting) titles for writers. References on request. When we print a book, we print the number you order, send all the booksto you, and are finished with the project (unless you've retained us to do more). PPP is basically a print-shop program, except you'll find (because of specialization and non profit status) that we're 30 to 50% less expensive than your home town printers. I recenlty got a quote from a printer who wanted $1,375 for the same job we did for $325.00. For questions that remain un-answered here, e mail me at cal@americanletters.org Our personal publishing program includes chapbook printing. A chapbook is defined as a book of 60 or fewer pages, self covered, saddle stapled in the spine, untrimmed. The enclosed prices should help you cost-out your project. But if it doesn't. Write, call or e mail. cal@americanletters.org The "standard" chapbook may not satisfy everyone, so we offer lots of options. We can get very fancy. For a sample chapbook send a 6 X 9 SASE with $1.59 postage affixed. Or just send $3.50 for shipping.
